Ron Newman: My experience at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games
I was selected to be part of the London 2012 games, both the Olympic and Paralympics, along with many other Games Makers. It has been a truly memorable journey, and as a disabled person to challenge everything and being part of something special was unique. It was with the true support of my wife Miriam that this happened. The staff at LOCOG and those Games Makers are friends I have made for life.
The Paralympics brings back some great memories. I still get goose bumps seeing the pictures of meeting wonderful people all over the world at the Olympic Park and in the Olympic Stadium, and watching the videos.
Question, which race/event/medal ceremony sticks in your mind as the best memory/ most special to you? Think it’s gotta be the men’s T44 400m for me (The one Oscar Pistorius won, and the last event in the stadium 400m Relay). I was fortunate enough

to see many of the completion’s and Gold medal races too.
The Games Makers journey continues with volunteers offering our skills at events.
